Promoted by the Government of Canada, the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) offers scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students (at master’s and doctoral levels) from Latin America and the Caribbean to go on exchange in universities in Canada.

Applications: 25 April 2017 is the deadline for Canadian universities to submit the applications of Brazilian students to the Government of Canada. Therefore, SINTER will obey the deadlines stipulated by the Canadian institutions. In this sense, it is up to the interested student to observe what is fixed by his or her destination institution.

Period of exchange: The student or researcher’s studies must start between 1 June 2017 and 1 February 2018.

Requirements:

UFSC students wishing to apply for ELAP scholarships must check if they meet the requirements of the Canadian institutions which have agreements with UFSC (Check the list of “Partner Institutions” at SINTER website).

They should also consult the chosen institution’s website to know the deadlines and documentation required for the application in order to apply in UFSC online application system. Before applying, send an e-mail to outgoing.sinter@contato.ufsc.br to confirm that there is enough time for the procedures required by the destination institution.

Application procedures for undergraduate students:

  • Read and follow the application procedures set forth in the Outgoing Program’s current call;
  • Register your application in the online application system, in accordance with the Outgoing Program’s current call;
  • After applying in the online system, send an email to outgoing.sinter@contato.ufsc.br informing about your application and giving the name of the contact professor at UFSC and the name of the contact person at the Canadian university;
  • Ensure that you meet the requirements of the chosen destination University.

UFSC will not approve applications of undergraduate students who do not register at our online application system. The applicant must comply with the requirements contained in the Outgoing Program’s current call. Graduate students must have their applications supported by their advisors, with the consent of their Graduate Program’s coordinator. For graduate applications, an interinstitutional agreement is desirable, but not mandatory. If there is an existing exchange agreement, graduate applications involving new or established collaboration between faculty members of a Canadian institution and UFSC will be accepted.
