UFSC is placed 101-150th in the Golden Age University Rankings 2019

The Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) was ranked 101-150th in the Times Higher Education (THE) Golden Age University Rankings 2019, for universities established between 1945 and 1967 that are characterized by rapid university expansion and increasing investment in research. Universities in this category make up a unique group of higher education institutions that have incorporated innovative academic practices but are less than 100 years old. In the 2019 edition, 271 institutions were included. UFSC appears as the second best qualified Brazilian university.

Times Higher Education (THE) is a British magazine that publishes news and articles related to higher education, affiliated with The Times, which annually elaborates a set of rankings considered one of the most balanced and reliable in the world. To evaluate the universities, 13 performance indicators are used, grouped into five areas: Teaching, Research, Citations, International Outlook and Industry Income. In total, 15 Brazilian universities appear in the 2019 Ranking. The Universidade de Campinas (UNICAMP) is the best ranked, in the 68th position.

Times Higher Education (THE) also publishes a series of regional and thematic rankings, including the THE Asia University Rankings, the THE Young University Rankings and the THE Latin America University Rankings, in which UFSC is placed as the 12th best institution of Latin America.
