The seminar “Current Topics in Brazil” is a course offered in English by the faculty of the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in the Human Sciences (PPGICH), and invited professors, to students of UFSC graduate programs and special students. The focus of the seminar will be on the relationship between various conceptions of and attitudes toward research, recent theories of interpretation and hermeneutical practices in the human sciences research in Brazil, emphasizing their insertion into a theoretical field of study and in an interdisciplinary perspective. The working in progress of the professors invited to give lectures will be considered. The course aims to introduce the students in the different fields of studies onand within Brazil.

Teaching methodology: lectures followed by discussion, seminars on texts previously indicated.

Assessment: participation in the debates and a review of one book to be indicated by the lecturer.
