SINTER promotes lecture on undergraduate and graduate studies in Canada

On 25 September, students of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina were able to attend a lecture delivered by Jéssica Sborglia, UFSC graduate and current vice-president of Alumni Canada Brasil, about undergraduate and graduate opportunities in Canada. The lecture took place at the Elke Hering Auditorium in the Central Library, on the Trindade Campus, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Ms. Sborglia gave tips on how to succeed in the North-American country and presented Alumni Canada Brasil, a non-profit network formed by a group of students and professionals from across Brazil and Canada looking to foster and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. The network gives support to those wishing to enrich their study or work experiences in Canada or in Brazil. The lecture presentations are available here and here.

The roles of Alumni members are many, but the focus is on providing and sharing useful information from those who had already developed projects or studies in both countries. The Network manages the Alumni Mentorship Program, which aims to connect experienced mentors with mentees interested in continuing their studies in Canada. Applications for the program will be open in November.

Bruno Wanderley Farias and Giovanna Redel, staff members from the Office of International Relations (SINTER), also attended the event to answer questions and explain the procedures to apply for  Canadian universities as an exchange student. Among the opportunities are the Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) and the exchange program through bilateral agreements, since UFSC holds agreements with more than 10 Canadian universities.

About 40 students attended the lecture at the Elke Hering Auditorium.
