The technical and administrative staff (STAEs) at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) signed an agreement with the University’s Rector last Friday (5), officializing the end of the strike that began in March.
Following this agreement, the employees have returned to work this Monday (8). The document provides for a series of measures that will be taken by the university administration together with the staff members, through the work of committees, to meet the local demands of the strike movement.
In the evaluation of the Workers’ Union at UFSC (Sintufsc), important achievements were obtained at the local level, such as the running of elections for the University Hospital (HU-UFSC) management; the reform and restructuring of the University Restaurant (RU) and the University Library (BU); the implementation of the Internal Commission for Public Servant’s Health (CISSP); and the preparation of feasibility studies for resuming the University Community Health Care Service (SASC).
Nationally, the strike was ended after the signing of an agreement with the federal government by the Federation of Unions of Technical-Administrative Workers in Public Higher Education Institutions in Brazil (Fasubra), on 27 June, in Brasilia.
The agreement determines a salary adjustment of 14% (9% in 2025 and 5% in 2026) and a total increase of 0.2% in salary progression (step), being 0.1% in 2025 and 0.1% in 2026, in addition to the restructuring of career levels.
