UFSC welcomes Professor from City University of New York for Inaugural Lecture and Seminar

On 12 August, Monday, Professor Anna Stetsenko from the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center will give an Inaugural Lecture at the UFSC Graduate Program in Education (PPGE). The lecture about “Vygotsky’s theory of method and philosophy of practice: implications for trans/formative methodology” will take place at the Culture and Events Center at 9 a.m. and will have simultaneous interpretation done by Professor Gilka Girardello, from the Department of Teaching Methodology. The event is part of the first Academic Week of the Graduate Program in Education at UFSC.

Anna Stetsenko is Professor in the Human Development and Urban Education PhD Programs at the CUNY Graduate Center. Her research is situated at the intersection of human development, education and social theory including topics of subjectivity, collective agency/action, and identity – all viewed through the lens of social change and activism.

In addition to the Inaugural Lecture, the Professor will present a special seminar on the same theme, to be held on 8, 9 and 12 August. The event is organized by the Graduate Program in Education (PPGE), along with the Graduate Program in Social Work (PPGSS), the Graduate Program in Scientific and Technological Education (PPGECT), the Graduate Program in Psychology (PPGP) and the Graduate Program in Interdisciplinary Studies (PPGICH).

I PPGE/UFSC Week: dos (per)cursos

The I PPGE/UFSC Week: dos (per)cursos aims to (self-)evaluate the actions developed and to be developed by the Program, as well as to promote self-knowledge and acknowledgement of the identity of its Lines of Research identities and to reflect on the challenges faced by the research in education in the current conjuncture. The event will include conferences, round tables, workshops, presentations, book launches and autographs session. There will also be oral paper and poster presentations.
