SINTER new secretaries take office

24fe692d88b4331dc953b2e31eecb31eProfessor Aguinaldo Roberto Pinto assumed the Office of International Relations (SINTER) on 27 November 2015. Professor Marcelo Farina  was nominated as deputy secretary. Both are from School of Biological Sciences (Centro de Ciências Biológicas – CCB).

Aguinaldo Roberto Pinto was SINTER deputy secretary since December 2013 and between 2012 and 2013 was Coordinator for International Agreement at the same office. He has a productivity scholarship from CNPq and did his PhD at Wistar Institute (Philadelphia, USA). Marcelo Farina has also a productivity scholarship from CNPq and last September became associated member of the Academia Brasileira de Ciências (ABC). Also, on 20 November 2015, was nominated as affiliated member of The World Academy of Science (TWAS) in a cerimony that happened in Vienna, Austria.

Professor Luiz Carlos Pinheiro Machado Filho was the Secretary of International Relations at UFSC since 2012 and left the office, on request, last 27 November.

SINTER has worked from a internationalization perspective as a way to promote scientific and technologic excellence of the country and to provide solidarity among people. Between 2012 and 2015, UFSC improved its position in several indices related to internationalization. The institution expanded, for example, the number of agreements with foreign universities, which were 287 at the end of 2012 and that there are more than 400, covering more than 50 countries, on every continent.
