On 5 and 6 December, The Director of International Relations, Dr. Fernanda Leal, represented UFSC, member of the Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevideo (AUGM), at the workshop “Strengthening of academic collaboration between Latin America and Europe” held in the Universidad de La República (UDELAR), Montevideo, Uruguay.

The event, promoted by AUGM and the Coimbra Group, brought together universities from both networks, as well as representatives from Montevideo-based embassies and organizations involved in international higher education, such as the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States and Euraxess.

The workshop included a program focused on sharing good practices in international cooperation between universities in Latin America and Europe, in addition to sharing international opportunities from embassies and other organizations. It was also an opportunity for the exchange of ideas between the institutions present.

To maximize the participation of UFSC, the Office of International Relations (SINTER) conducted a brief survey with its university community to learn about the existing cooperation with the universities that would be present at the event. The survey showed that some of the institutions with which UFSC researchers already cooperate, such as the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC), Argentina, and the University of Edinburgh, UK, do not have cooperation agreements with UFSC as yet.

Thus, it was the opportunity to start a dialogue about the possibilities of institutionalizing the relations. The opportunities presented at the event will be shared with the university community through our website, the international opportunities page and the mailing list.
