The Office of International Relations (SINTER) of Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) aims at promoting the interaction between the university and other international higher education institutions and organizations; establishing and giving support to technical, scientific and cultural cooperation agreements; and providing exchange opportunities for UFSC students, faculty and administrative staff.
UFSC supports and implements actions to facilitate the mobility of students, faculty and administrative staff. Its active internationalization policy places UFSC among the best universities in the country. In the second semester of 2015, 1.034 UFSC students, faculty and administrative staff members were studying abroad – of those, 96 were from institutions with which UFSC has bilateral agreements. In the same period, 628 exchange students, faculty and administrative staff members were studying on UFSC campuses – of those, 318 were from institutions with which UFSC has bilateral agreements.
The participation in international programs such as Science without Borders, Erasmus Mundus, Escala AUGM, PEC-G/PEC-PG, Pró-Haiti, USAC, among others, gives increased opportunities for the university community and promotes the internationalization of UFSC campuses. There has been a significant increase in bilateral collaboration with foreign institutions in recent years, and in the second semester of 2015 a total of 294 agreements were signed with over 44 countries on all continents.
UFSC internationalization policy aims to promote the country’s scientific and technological excellence and promote solidarity among peoples. The internationalization actions focus on undergraduate and graduate teaching, research, and extension, and improve the institution’s academic quality.
