The international course “The Languages of Science” had its first class of the year. Created in 2021, the course is a partnership between the Imagine Project at UFSC and the Collège Sciences et Technologies of the Université de Bordeaux (UB), France. This is the first Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) course offered at UFSC, in a multicultural and interdisciplinary way. The 2022 edition takes place between 13 September and 6 December.

COIL is a cooperative teaching and learning modality between international partner institutions, in which a course is taught simultaneously in both countries. The classrooms of the two universities are connected online and participants can interact in real time, in order to promote a creative, international, intercultural, and innovative environment. In the second semester 2022, sixteen places were offered for each institution (UFSC and UB). The course, addressing the role of science in society, will include topics such as science and democracy, pseudoscience and fake news, taking students on a virtual journey through the scientific world, with all its diversity of areas, cultures, languages and countries.
