On 8 February, the Secretary for International Relations, Luiz Carlos Pinheiro Machado Filho, welcomed at SINTER a delegation of leaders from Mozambique’s National Institute of Information Technology and Communication (INTIC). The aim of the visit was to advance the technical cooperation agreement between UFSC and the institution for the implementation of a digital certificate infrastructure in the African country.

SINTER receives representatives from INTIC, IFRS, LabSEC/UFSC and PROPG/UFSC.

UFSC is providing support for the implementation of a digital certificate infrastructure in Mozambique through a partnership between the INTIC and the Computer Security Laboratory (LabSEC/UFSC). The meeting discussed the possibilities of cooperation and the possible sources of funds to support the provision of courses and scholarships for Mozambican students at UFSC. This partnership is based on solidarity between countries, and therefore does not involve remuneration of professors or any financial compensation.

The possibility of training Mozambican students in the digital area, at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as through short courses, was addressed. “The proposal is to prepare a Mozambican team that in the future will implement projects in Mozambique with full autonomy” said the Secretary.

The meeting was attended by INTIC leaders Laisse Mucavele, director of the Certificate and License Division, Abrão Nhaca, head of the Central License Department, and Eugênio Jeremias, director of the Cyber Security and Data Protection Division, as well as by the LabSEC supervisor, Prof. Ricardo Felipe Custódio, the LabSEC executive secretary, Lucila Alosilla, the Director of Graduate Studies at UFSC, Marcus Paulo Pessoa da Silva, and Frederico Schardong, lecturer at the Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS).

In October last year, the INTIC leaders were at UFSC to sign the technical cooperation agreement.
