Call no. 1/2025/SINTER-ICHIN (2025 Shanghai Summer School): Final Results

The Office of International Relations (SINTER) and the Institute for Studies on China (ICHIN) announce the final results of Call 1/2025/SINTER-ICHIN, which aimed to pre-select up to three UFSC students for the 2025 Shanghai Summer School.

Due to the high number of applicants received – 47 students in total, including 9 undergraduate students for the reserved place based on socioeconomic criteria, 26 undergraduates students in the general category, and 12 graduate students in the general category –  SINTER and ICHIN successfully negotiated an additional place in the general category with the host institution.

As specified in the Call, the place reserved for students with a socioeconomic registration approved by PRAE/UFSC includes round-trip international airfare. This cost will be jointly covered by SINTER and the School of Technology (CTC). The remaining selected students will be responsible for purchasing their own airline tickets.

Place 1 – Reserved (PRAE socioeconomic registration)

  • Fernanda Paiva de Morais – Electrical Engineering (undergraduate)

Places 2, 3 and 4 – General category

  • Lucas Ferreira da Rosa – Electrical Engineering (undergraduate)
  • Guilherme Fidelis Peixer – Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering (graduate)
  • Guilherme Breda Fatalla – Materials Engineering (undergraduate)

SINTER and ICHIN will forward the details of the pre-selected students to the Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP) to proceed with the next steps for participation in the Summer School.

The student selected for the reserved place will be contacted by SINTER regarding the procedures to receive the financial support.

If any of the selected students choose to withdraw, they must inform the Director of International Relations at UFSC immediately via email at direcao.sinter@contato.ufsc.br.

UFSC participates in the FAUBAI 2025 Conference: Towards equitable and sustainable partnerships

SINTER Team at the FAUBAI 2025 Conference

The FAUBAI 2025 Conference is the largest and most important international higher education event in Brazil, bringing together a significant number of representatives from universities, organizations and government agencies around the world. This edition, held in Brasília from 26 to 30 April, was themed “Towards equitable and sustainable partnerships” and featured workshops, plenary sessions on issues relevant to the contemporary context of international university relations, and parallel sessions. Two highlights in international cooperation promoted by the Brazilian government and universities were the sessions “PEC-G: 60 years of international cooperation and internationalization at home” and “CAPES-Global: Pesentation of the new program.

Meeting with HSE University, Russia

The event was an opportunity to hold bilateral meetings with representatives of universities and institutions, with a view to establishing and strengthening UFSC’s international cooperation. UFSC’s Secretary for International Relations, Prof. Luiz Carlos Pinheiro Machado Filho, and the Director of International Relations, Dr. Fernanda Leal, held meetings with representatives from Université Laval (Québec, Canada); Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Spain); Politecnico di Torino (Italy); HSE University (Russia); Universidad del Valle (Colombia) and Universitat Munster (Germany), among other universities. They also met with representatives from the Regional English Language Office (RELO) of the U.S. Embassy, in light of UFSC’s participation in the English Language Fellow Program
