On 24 September, SINTER welcomed representatives from the University of Seville, Spain, accompanied by Prof. Dr. João Artur de Souza from UFSC’s Department of Knowledge Engineering (EGC).

Professors Jaime Ortega Gutierrez and Gabriel A. Cepeda Carrión visited UFSC under the Erasmus+ program to participate in co-supervised thesis defense committees between 20 September and 30 September 2026, and stopped by the office for a brief discussion.

The Office of International Relations (SINTER), represented by Director Francis Tourinho, participated in the opening session of the week-long celebration of Guinea-Bissau’s independence.

The event was organized by the Association of Guinean Students in Santa Catarina (AEGUISC) in partnership with the Committee for the Celebration of Guinea-Bissau’s 53rd Independence Anniversary. The talk was led by Pedro dos Santos, a native of Guinea-Bissau, and covered the history of the country’s independence.

On 9 September, SINTER hosted representatives from the Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata (UNMDP) and the Brazilian Embassy in Argentina to discuss a potential agreement with UFSC and a proposal for double degree programs in the fields of Fisheries Engineering, Language and Literature, Law, AI, and Tourism.

The meeting was attended by UFSC’s Director of International Relations, Prof. Francis Tourinho; the Head of the Education Section at the Brazilian Embassy in Buenos Aires, diplomat Bernardo Morais; UNMDP Vice-Rector Marina Sánchez Herrero; and UNMDP international relations officer Marisu.

On 24 August, SINTER hosted an institutional visit by Malika Croteau, the Vice-Consul of Quebec in São Paulo, to discuss mobility opportunities in the province, which offers programs for both students and staff.

The Vice-Consul also visited the UFSC French Language and Literature program and delivered a lecture on study and work opportunities in Quebec.

The meeting was attended by the Director of International Relations, Prof. Francis Tourinho, and the Coordinator of the Institutional Center for Languages and Translation (NILT), Prof. Rúbia Souza, opening up possibilities for expanding partnerships.
