Applications now open for Portuguese for Foreigners courses offered by the Andifes IsF (Languages without Borders) Network – Apply by 23 May at noon
The Andifes IsF (Languages Without Borders) Network is accepting applications until 23 May 2025 at noon (Brasília time) for its Selection Process to fill seats in online Portuguese language courses for foreigners. Applications are open to all foreign nationals, whether or not they currently reside in Brazil or are enrolled in an educational institution.To apply, complete the application form for the desired course (links provided below). At this time, three beginner-level classes are available:
Aspects of Brazilian culture – Class 1 (level A1)
Institution: Universidade Federal da Paraíba (UFPB)
Workload: 32 hours
Days of the Week: Mondays and Wednesdays

Call no. 1/2025/SINTER-ICHIN (2025 Shanghai Summer School): Final Results
The Office of International Relations (SINTER) and the Institute for Studies on China (ICHIN) announce the final results of Call 1/2025/SINTER-ICHIN, which aimed to pre-select up to three UFSC students for the 2025 Shanghai Summer School.Due to the high number of applicants received – 47 students in total, including 9 undergraduate students for the reserved place based on socioeconomic criteria, 26 undergraduates students in the general category, and 12 graduate students in the general category – SINTER and ICHIN successfully negotiated an additional place in the general category with the host institution.
As specified in the Call, the place reserved for students with a socioeconomic registration approved by PRAE/UFSC includes round-trip international airfare. This cost will be jointly covered by SINTER and the School of Technology (CTC). The remaining selected students will be responsible for purchasing their own airline tickets.

Places 2, 3 and 4 – General category
- Lucas Ferreira da Rosa – Electrical Engineering (undergraduate)
- Guilherme Fidelis Peixer – Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering (graduate)
- Guilherme Breda Fatalla – Materials Engineering (undergraduate)
SINTER and ICHIN will forward the details of the pre-selected students to the Shanghai University of Electric Power (SUEP) to proceed with the next steps for participation in the Summer School.
The student selected for the reserved place will be contacted by SINTER regarding the procedures to receive the financial support.
If any of the selected students choose to withdraw, they must inform the Director of International Relations at UFSC immediately via email at direcao.sinter@contato.ufsc.br.
