On 23 October 2025, UFSC’s Office of International Relations (SINTER) received Professor Stephan Ludwig from the University of Münster, Germany, who was accompanied by Professor Izabella Thaís Silva, from the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at UFSC’s School of Health Sciences (CCS).
UFSC has a long-standing collaboration with the University of Münster. The visit aimed to strengthen institutional ties and renew the cooperation agreement between the universities, which was formalized during the meeting. The German professor was welcomed by Professor Luiz Carlos Pinheiro Machado Filho, Secretary for International Relations, and Amanda Drehmer, International Agreements Coordinator at SINTER.
During the visit, Professor Stephan Ludwig highlighted that he is leading the “One Health” international platform in Germany, dedicated to integrating human, animal, and environmental health. He encouraged UFSC researchers interested in the topic to explore the initiative and, if they wish, become members.
In addition to the SINTER meeting, Professor Ludwig participated in academic activities at UFSC. On Friday, 24 October, he delivered a lecture entitled “Towards a Novel Host-Targeted Anti-Infective Strategy Against COVID-19 and Other Acute Respiratory Viral Diseases,” at the CCB Professor Milton Muniz Auditorium.
International collaborations like this play a key role in strengthening research and supporting the training of UFSC’s undergraduate and graduate students.
