UFSC conquered the position n. 148 among BRICS universities (THE World University Rankings)

download (3)Phil Baty , the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE) editor, announces that the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina conquered the position n. 148 among BRICS universities – bloc of countries formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The inclusion of UFSC in the ranking of The BRICS & Emerging Economies is a significant achievement.

‘The World Academy of Science’ confere título de membro afiliado a professor da UFSC

À direita, Marcelo Farina.Marcelo Farina, professor and deputy secretary of the Office of International Relations, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), was nominated affiliated member of The World Academy of Science (TWAS), in a ceremony that happened in Vienna (Austria) on 20 November.

To the professor, the nomination represents a very important international recognition: “Sou de um país em desenvolvimento e, assim como vários colegas, conheço muito bem os inúmeros obstáculos relacionados a fazer pesquisa científica como professor universitário brasileiro. Apesar das dificuldades, seguimos em frente, pois sabemos que o conhecimento científico e tecnológico será crucial na tomada de decisões em situações críticas, como acidentes ambientais, epidemias, mudanças climáticas, etc. É uma pena que muitos, incluindo gestores do dinheiro público, não compreendam que apoiar a ciência é uma questão de sobrevivência

(Português (Brasil)) Professor da UFSC participa de conferência internacional promovida pela UNESCO

costa-rica-212x300Gilvan Müller de Oliveira, professor of Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina from Departamento de Língua e Literatura Vernáculas (DLLV) and from Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística (PPGL), was present in an international conference promoted by UNESCO and entitled Multilingüismo en el Ciberespacio: Lenguajes Indígenas para el Empoderamiento, realized on 27 and 28 November, at San José (Costa Rica). Prof. Gilvan presented brazilian experiences in promotion ofplurilingualism with the presentation “Políticas linguísticas para el multilingüismo y formación universitária del profesorado indígena en Brasil”, in which he explained about intercultural bilingual degrees offered nowadays by many brazilian public universities as privileged foruns for digital inclusion of brazilian languages, in the way proposed by UNESCO, through its conexion to various linguistic policies in Brazil. The presentation was part of “Sesión 3: Panel – Marcos legales con respecto a las políticas en educación” and counted with the presence of participants from Costa Rica, Honduras, Peru, Guatemala and United States.
