Office of International Relations carries out institutional visits to Florianopolis organizations
On 5 September, the Secretary for International Relations, Prof. Luiz Carlos Pinheiro Machado Filho, and the Director of International Relations, Dr. Fernanda Leal, carried out a visit to the president of the Santa Catarina State Foundation for the Support of Research and Innovation (Fapesc), Fábio Zabot Thausen. On the occasion, they discussed partnership opportunities between UFSC and Fapesc, in the internationalization area. Fapesc has promoted several Calls for Proposals aimed at the internationalization of Santa Catarina’s ecosystem, such as the Programa Catarinense de Internacionalização da CTI: Missão Japão e Singapura 2022 [Santa Catarina Internationalization Program in Science, Technology and Innovation: 2022 Japan and Singapore Mission], in which UFSC was accepted. In all possible joint internationalization initiatives to be undertaken, the aim is to involve several institutions of Santa Catarina.On 6 September, the Director of International Relations, Dr. Fernanda Leal, and the Head of International Support at the Office of International Relations (SINTER), Marcelo Koerich, visited the Coordinator of the Immigration Police Office in Santa Catarina, Alessandre Mauro Tomaz. Through the existing partnership between SINTER and the Police Office, SINTER carries out the first instructions and assistance to the international community at UFSC concerning the National Migrant Registration (RNM). At the meeting, the importance of the partnership was reinforced and the possibility of expanding the assistance to Araranguá, Blumenau, Curitibanos and Joinville campuses – a topic that will be presented to the campuses during SINTER visits between September and October – was discussed. In addition, the possibility of conducting joint social projects on issues related to immigrants in Santa Catarina was considered.

AUGM “XXIX Jornadas de Jóvenes Investigadores” takes place in Sucre, Bolivia

The XXIX Jornadas de Jóvenes Investigadores of the Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevideo [Association of Montevideo Group Universities] (AUGM) takes place between 7 and 9 September at the Universidad Mayor, Real y Pontifícia de San Xavier e Chuquisaca (USFX), in Sucre, Bolivia, with the theme “Generación de conocimientos desde el Sur para el mundo post pandemia” [“Generating knowledge from the South to the post-pandemic world”].
Created in 1993, the Jornadas annually brings together hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students from AUGM member universities, with the aim of promoting integration among students and establishing international research groups. This year, four UFSC undergraduate students are participating in the event, in addition to Prof. Marciel Stadnik, who represents UFSC in the Comité Académico Agroalimentario [Agrifood Academic Committee].

Internationalization and Human Resources Training Program
The Prorectorate for Graduate Studies (PROPG) of UFSC announced the opening for the selection process for the Internationalization and Human Resources Training Program, at the stricto sensu graduate level, for the year 2022. The program is a cooperation between the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) and the Instituto Superior Politécnico da Caála (ISP-CAÁLA), in Angola.
The Internationalization and Human Resources Training Program aims to:
- motivate the internationalization actions at UFSC, offering places in Master’s and Doctoral programs, for Angolan students;
- contribute to qualified human resources training of faculty members from the Instituto Superior Politécnico de Caála (ISP-CAÁLA), in Angola.
Up to 20 (twenty) master’s scholarships, for a period of 24 (twenty-four) months, and up to 10 (ten) doctoral scholarships, for a period of 48 (forty-eight) months, will be offered in Graduate Programs at UFSC, with financial resources from the Fundo para Formação de Docentes [Fund for Faculty Training] of ISP-CAÁLA.
The applications for the selection process must be made in-person at the Academic Office of ISP/CAÁLA, in Huambo, Angola, until 30 September 2022. Learn the rules to participate in the Call for Applications no. 07/2022/PROPG.

2023.1 AUGM Escala Estudiantes de Grado Program – Applications open
The Office of International Relations (SINTER) announces that applications are open for the ESCALA Estudiantes de Grado exchange program, promoted by the Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevideo [Association of Montevideo Group Universities] (AUGM). The program is target at UFSC undergraduate students. Fourteen places will be offered among universities in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile and Uruguay.

Webinar: Learn about the AUGM exchange programs
On 22 September, at 12:30 p.m. (Brasília time), the Office of International Relations (SINTER) promotes the webinar “Learn about the AUGM exchange programs”, in order to present the Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevideo [Association of Montevideo Group Universities] (AUGM) and its exchange opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students, as well as for technical-administrative staff and faculty members.The online event will have SINTER representatives acting as moderators: Fernanda Leal, Director of International Relations, and Guilherme Carlos da Costa, responsible for managing the AUGM programs at UFSC.

Call no. 1/2022 – PROPESQ/SINTER – International Cooperation with Japan and Singapore
The Prorectorate for Research and Innovation (PROPESQ) and the Office of International Relations (SINTER) at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) invite faculty and administrative staff who cooperate or have an interest in developing scientific cooperation with universities and research institutions in Japan or Singapore to fill in this form until 10 September.
The present call aims to instruct UFSC’s representation in th e“2022 Japan and Singapore Mission”, from the Programa Catarinense de Internacionalização da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação [Santa Catarina Internationalization Program in Science, Technology and Innovation] (CTI) (Call for Applications Fapesc no. 34/2022), which will be held between 10 and 25 November 2022, with the participation of directors of 22 Higher Education Institutions in Santa Catarina.

Webinar on work opportunities in Québec
Next Thursday, 8 September, at 2 p.m., the Office of International Relations (SINTER) will promote the webinar “Work exchange opportunities in the engineering and information and communication technology sectors in Québec”. The event is organized in partnership with the Québec Government Office in São Paulo.The speaker, Hércules Kuster, has an undergraduate degree in International Relations and a master’s degree in Technological Innovation and Intellectual Property from Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG). Kuster serves as a prospecting and promotion advisor for the Québec Government Office in São Paulo, with a focus on promoting labor market-oriented mobility programs.
