Study in Europe Road Show 2022 presents opportunities at UFSC
Last Friday, 29 April, UFSC hosted the Study in Europe Road Show 2022. This was the first one to be held in person since the beginning of the pandemic, and it was organized in collaboration with the Office of International Relations (SINTER).The event was opened with a message from the Secretary for International Relations, Prof. Lincoln Fernandes, who highlighted the return of in-person activities at UFSC: “Today we are taking an extremely important step to resume what has been suspended and now returns, let’s say, in a different way”. He also emphasized the importance of developing new competences and initiatives and their relation with internationalization. “With the pandemic, many of our activities had to pass through a necessary digital transformation in order for us to maintain our international relations. We also rediscovered the importance of internationalization at home, especially for our economically vulnerable students, who were able to participate in our internationalization process by, for example, taking virtual courses offered by our partners, participating in COIL (Collaborative Online International Learning) mobility programs and attending online extension courses”, said the Secretary.
Then, each of the invited institutions delivered a presentation on international opportunities, starting with DAAD (Germany) and followed by Campus France (France), Swissnex (Switzerland) and WBI (Belgian). The international agencies presented scholarship and exchange opportunities, as well as general information about each country.
The participants had the opportunity to clear their doubts with the agencies and with SINTER at the event stands. The Road Show was free and open to the public, and it was attended by 284 students. The organization followed all the safety standards established by UFSC, so participants were required to use face masks and show proof of full vaccination against Covid-19 to enter the site.
The Director of International Relations at UFSC, Diogo Robl, observes that “the importance of this event lies in the participation of study agencies from different European countries that promote and encourage academic mobility to their respective countries. Several mobility options, as well as possible scholarships offered by European countries, portray the importance of academic mobility as a tool in the internationalization process at UFSC. In addition, the event made it possible to sensitize potential students to a future international experience, bringing them closer to the destination countries”.
“As soon as I saw the ad, I was already interested in the event”, says Leticia Schlemper, an undergraduate Journalism student who has always been interested in travel and exchange. “I really enjoyed attending the lectures and stands, because it gave me the opportunity to learn more about the topic, in addition to getting to know several exchange programs that I didn’t know existed”, reports the student.
