  • SINTER participates in FAUBAI Conference and in CGRIFES Meeting

SINTER/UFSC staff at the FAUBAI 2023 Conference.

The FAUBAI Conference 2023 took place in Belo Horizonte, from April 15 to April 19. The event was attended by the Secretary for International Relations, the Director of International Relations and two staff members from the Office of International Relations (SINTER) at UFSC.

The conference is promoted annually by the Brazilian Association for International Education (FAUBAI) and this year’s theme was “Building knowledge with all voices”.

SINTER presented three papers in the event: “Solidary internationalism in higher education: Insights from a Capes-Print project”, “International Cooperation for Development in Higher Education: insights from UFSC participation in IPEA’s research”, and “Boas práticas de comunicação para fortalecer a internacionalização da Instituição Universitária: O caso da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina” [Good communication practices to strengthen the internationalization of the University Institution: The case of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina”]. The Director of International Relations also participated in the round table “Internationalization practitioners as researchers: insights from Brazil and Chile”.

The Conference had more than 500 participants, among rectors, prorectors and international relations managers from Brazilian and foreign institutions, with representatives from 23 countries.

“The FAUBAI Conference 2023 in Belo Horizonte marked some important developments for the internationalization of higher education in Brazil. In the year it completes its 35th anniversary, the conference was again face-to-face, had a large audience (almost 600 people) and was attended by institutions from all over the world. We can safely say that FAUBAI is one of the important international conferences about internationalization of higher education” said Luiz Carlos Pinheiro Machado Filho, Secretary for International Relations at UFSC.

Still on the participation of SINTER in the event, the Secretary added that “UFSC participated actively in the conference, with a small delegation of four people, who took advantage of the opportunity to make several contacts with foreign universities that came to us, and also contributed with the presentation of papers in round tables. In fact, the program was very good, including highly qualified speakers and, at the same time, observing diversity in participants”.

The Brazilian Association for International Education (Faubai) works to expand the internationalization process of Brazilian higher education institutions, to promote the Brazilian education system abroad, and to develop its members professionally.
