Applications are open for the USAC Buddy Program. The Buddy Program is an initiative of the University Studies Abroad Consortium (USAC) – Florianópolis for UFSC students to make friends from other countries and cultures and improve their English through practice. At first, USAC will promote a few integration events with the study abroad students, and, later, the UFSC student will keep in touch with his/her buddy. If you are a student interested in participating in the program you will need to:

– Have free time to meet with your buddy frequently;

–Attend the Pizza Event promoted by USAC in order to meet the exchange students (attendance in this event is fundamental);

– Participate in the extra activities promoted by USAC, such as trekking;

– Be able to include your buddy in your social activities and help him/her with getting to know the local culture and your favorite places in Florianópolis.

You will also need to be able to communicate well in English in order to help your buddy learn Portuguese while you practice your English skills.
