The Office of International Relations (SINTER), through its International Support service, assists UFSC’s international community with obtaining and renewing the National Migrant Registration (RNM) at the Federal Police (PF).
As part of this process, it is the responsibility of the immigrant to provide the required documentation and attend an interview at the Federal Police on the scheduled date.
We would also like to emphasize that it is the responsibility of immigrants to stay informed about the deadlines for renewing their RNM. International community members must contact SINTER’s International Support service in a timely manner to submit the necessary documentation and comply with any other requirements set by the PF.
Recently, we were informed that some international students at UFSC have been fined by the PF for failing to apply for RNM renewal within the established deadline. Please note that these fines are imposed by the Federal Police and are beyond UFSC’s control, meaning SINTER cannot assist in reversing the situation.
To avoid penalties, we strongly urge all international students to be aware of deadlines and submit the required renewal documents at least 60 days before their RNM expires.
For further details on RNM renewal procedures, please click here.
If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact us via email at imigracao.sinter@contato.ufsc.br.

On 4 December, SINTER received a visit from Middlebury College, a valued partner institution from the United States. The Middlebury College Director in Brazil, Sean McIntyre, was welcomed by the Director of International Relations at UFSC, Fernanda Leal, the Coordinator of International Programs, Guilherme Costa, and the person responsible for the Incoming Program at SINTER, Ana Carolina Lucchetti.
During the meeting, discussions focused on strategies to deepen the long-standing cooperation between UFSC and Middlebury, encourage Middlebury students’ participation in UFSC’s university outreach projects, and foster greater interaction between international and local students.
In the first semester of 2025, UFSC will welcome five undergraduate students from the partner institution, as part of the Incoming Exchange Program. Since 2007, UFSC has received 90 international students from Middlebury College.
