On 10 December, the Office of International Relations (SINTER) at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) hosted a visit from Professor Susana Bleil of Université Le Havre Normandie, alongisde Professor Daniel Castelan, from UFSC’s School of Socioeconomic Sciences (CSE).

Professor Bleil is a graduate from UFSC. She currently teaches Portuguese and Brazilian Civilization at the Faculty of International Relations at Université Le Havre Normandie, France. She is a researcher affiliated with the Center for Studies on Social Movements (CEMS) at the School of Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS) and is a member of the Identities and Cultures Research Group (GRIC). Her academic interests encompass the history of inequalities in Brazil, identity, culture, political transitions, and the sociology of collective action, with a focus on qualitative research methods such as interviews and direct observation.

The meeting centered on the academic cooperation between the two institutions, including the implementation of the incoming student exchange program in 2025. UFSC will welcome five undergraduate students from Université Le Havre Normandie, one in the Law program and four in the International Relations program. This will be the first time UFSC receives students from this partner institution.

Important Notice to UFSC’s International Community: Deadlines for National Migrant Registration (RNM) Issuance and Renewal

14:57:12

The Office of International Relations (SINTER), through its International Support service, assists UFSC’s international community with obtaining and renewing the National Migrant Registration (RNM) at the Federal Police (PF).

As part of this process, it is the responsibility of the immigrant to provide the required documentation and attend an interview at the Federal Police on the scheduled date.

We would also like to emphasize that it is the responsibility of immigrants to stay informed about the deadlines for renewing their RNM. International community members must contact SINTER’s International Support service in a timely manner to submit the necessary documentation and comply with any other requirements set by the PF.

Recently, we were informed that some international students at UFSC have been fined by the PF for failing to apply for RNM renewal within the established deadline. Please note that these fines are imposed by the Federal Police and are beyond UFSC’s control, meaning SINTER cannot assist in reversing the situation.

To avoid penalties, we strongly urge all international students to be aware of deadlines and submit the required renewal documents at least 60 days before their RNM expires.

For further details on RNM renewal procedures, please click here.

If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact us via email at imigracao.sinter@contato.ufsc.br.
