2020.2 MRE Merit Scholarship for PEC-G students ‒ Applications from 10 September to 5 October 2020
Applications for the 2020.2 MRE Merit Scholarship are open from 10 September to 5 October 2020. The scholarship is destined for students of the Exchange Program for Undergraduate Students (PEC-G) at UFSC who have completed at least 2 semesters of study.Offered by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the Merit Scholarship consists of a monthly financial assistance of R$ 622.00, during the period of six months.

UFSC is among the best Brazilian universities according to the THE World University Rankings 2021
The Times Higher Education (THE) has published today the results of the World University Rankings 2021, listing the best universities in the world.In this year’s edition, the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) maintained its position among the 601-800 best universities in the world and the eight best universities in Brazil, together with the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) and the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS), among others.

UFSC extends suspension of in-person activities until 31 December
Last Friday, 28 August, the Central Administration of the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) has announced that the university’s in-person academic and administrative activities will remain suspended until 31 December.
According to the Ordinance no. 371/2020, on-campus teaching activities at all levels and of all types remain suspended. The ordinance authorizes remote learning at UFSC, under the rules set out in Normative Resolution no. 140/2020/CUn.
Any other in-person academic activities, such as defenses, recruitment examinations and meetings, as well as the in-person technical and administrative activities, except for health, security and other urgent and essential services, are also suspended on all UFSC campuses until 31 December.
The document stresses, however, that these measures may be changed upon occurrence of new events.

Applications open for the Outgoing Program 2020 – UFSC Students
The Office of International Relations (SINTER) has published a call with the rules for UFSC undergraduate students to apply for exchange via the Outgoing Program.The UFSC online application system will remain open until 30 November 2020. To go on exchange, the students will need to follow the deadlines of the host institution according to the rules established in the call.
For institutions with deadlines between December and January, the student must apply through UFSC online system until 30 November 2020.
Extension requests must be imperatively registered on the online system as well.
All doubts about the application procedures should be solved via e-mail (outgoing.sinter@contato.ufsc.br).
The reading of the Call for Applications is mandatory for all applicants.

Event about opportunities in China celebrates partnership between the Confucious Institute at UFRGS and UFSC and UFSM
The Confucious Institute at UFRGS, in partnership with UFSC and UFSC, invites everyone for the online event on “Opportunities in China: meeting the Confucious Institute” that will take place this Thursday, 27 August, at 7 pm., on the Zoom platform.During the event, the guest speakers will talk about academic and cultural exchange opportunities for the universities and the students, and will share their study, research and cultural experiences in China.
