TOEFL® Essentials™: Discover the new English proficiency test this Friday!
SINTER invites the University community to a lecture about the TOEFL Essentials test, to take place this Friday, 17 December, at 9:30 am (Brasilia time) on YouTube.TOEFL Essentials was created to offer educational institutions another test option with the same quality and credibility as other ETS tests. TOEFL Essentials has a shorter duration (1.5h), an innovative design, and is more affordable for a larger number of people: it costs $100 — less than half the cost of other tests.

FAUBAI Regional Sul gathers speakers this Monday
The annual event of the Brazilian Association of International Education (FAUBAI) in Southern Brazil took place this Monday, 13 December. The program included several lectures on aspects of the post-pandemic internationalization given by prominent professors in the area.This year’s meeting was held online and was organized by the following HEIs: Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (UNIOESTE), Universidade Estadual do Norte do Paraná (UENP), Universidade de Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC), Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (UFRGS).

FAUBAI regional conference will take place next Monday, 13 December
The FAUBAI Regional Sul – the regional conference of the Brazilian Association for International Education (FAUBAI) in Southern Brazil – is scheduled to take place next Monday, 13 December.
The annual event has been organized this year by Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (UNIOESTE), Universidade Estadual do Norte do Paraná (UENP), Universidade de Santa Cruz do Sul (UNISC) and Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (UFRGS).
The online conference will feature lectures on the post-pandemic internationalization, delivered by experts in the area.

Internship vacancy at SINTER – Outgoing Program
There is one internship vacancy open at the Office of International Relations – SINTER.
Students from the following undergraduate programs may apply (exclusively from UFSC):
Administration
Languages and Literature
International Relations
Executive Secretariat
Start of activities: 10 January, 2022.
Total Hours per week: 20 hours.
Hours: 9 am to 1 pm
The activities will be carried out entirely remotely for the duration of the social distancing measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Remuneration: R$787.98 monthly (Upon return to in-person work, R$220.00 in transportation assistance will be added).
Requirements:
Be regularly enrolled in an undergraduate program at UFSC, in the 2nd semester of studies or beyond; not having failed any course due to unsatisfactory attendance (FI);
Have fluency in the English language;
Show excellent writing skills;
Be able to operate administrative systems;
Be able to work collaboratively;
Show organization, responsibility, initiative and punctuality;
Having fluency in other languages is desirable (although not required).
Internship duties:
Assist in administrative activities related to the Outgoing Exchange Program (offering services to the university community; establishing contact with partner foreign institutions; providing services to the public in Portuguese and English; operating e-mails and administrative systems, issuing documents, updating spreadsheets, etc.) .

UFSC launches Brazilian Portuguese Survival Course for foreign students
The Brazilian Portuguese Survival Course is an initiative of the Office of International Relations (SINTER) in partnership with the Office of Distance Education (SEAD) at UFSC. The aim is to train students, faculty and staff from universities all around the world to communicate in basic Portuguese and to carry out mobility and academic cooperation activities at UFSC.The online, asynchronous and self-instructional course totals 20 hours and is organized into five learning modules, each comprising three lessons. At the end of each lesson, students complete activities in a “Practice Time” session. The modules also feature a “Cultureme” session, which introduces aspects of the Brazilian culture, and a “Tip Time” session, which brings useful information to help students handle the new language.
