UFSC stands out in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2025
The Times Higher Education (THE) published today, 18 June, the Impact Rankings 2025, which ranks 2,526 universities from 130 countries or territories based on their progress towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In the overall ranking, UFSC is placed in the 601–800 range, with a score of 66.4. Regarding the SDGs, the university performed best in the following areas:
- SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being: ranked 201-300 overall, among 1,788 universities assessed, with a score of 66.4;
- SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy: ranked 201-300 overall, among 1,181 universities assessed, with a score of 58.2;
- SDG 17 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG 16): ranked 301-400 overall, among 1,256 institutions assessed, with a score of 59.1.
UFSC also stood out in SDG 6 (Clean water and sanitation), SGD 9 (Industry, innovation and infrastructure), and SDG 12 (Responsible consumption and production).

The ranking evaluates higher education institutions worldwide based on three key categories: environmental impact, social impact, and governance.

The results of the QS World University Rankings: Latin America & The Caribbean 2024 were published on Wednesday, 13 September, and ranked the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) among the 23 best universities in Latin America. UFSC occupies the 8th position among the Brazilian universities and the 4th among the federal education institutions in Brazil.
