Public Hearing on the Health Insurance Plan at UFSC

On 16 August (next Friday), at 3 p.m., a Public Hearing will be held on the School of Technology (CTC) Auditorium to provide clarifications regarding the construction of the new health insurance plan of UFSC.

All staff, faculty, retirees and pensioners are invited to participate.

UFSC welcomes Professor from City University of New York for Inaugural Lecture and Seminar

On 12 August, Monday, Professor Anna Stetsenko from the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center will give an Inaugural Lecture at the UFSC Graduate Program in Education (PPGE). The lecture about “Vygotsky’s theory of method and philosophy of practice: implications for trans/formative methodology” will take place at the Culture and Events Center at 9 a.m. and will have simultaneous interpretation done by Professor Gilka Girardello, from the Department of Teaching Methodology. The event is part of the first Academic Week of the Graduate Program in Education at UFSC.

UFSC welcomes 159 international students from 23 different countries

On 2 August, last Friday, the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) held a welcome session for 159 international students from 23 different countries. The event promoted by the Office of International Relations (SINTER) took place at the Rectorate Building Auditorium and included presentations of each country, of the Federal Police, of the Ampera Racing competition team, as well as a Capoeira demonstration.

Bilateral agreements and partnerships with associations and federal programs enabled the exchange of 145 students (of which four are from member universities of the Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevideo – AUGM) who come to study at UFSC this semester. Six students are here to pursue their degrees through the Exchange Program for Undergraduate Students (PEC-G) and eight students will initiate their graduate studies in the University (four in the Master’s Program and four in the Doctoral Program).

UFSC will hold a welcome session for international students

On 2 August, next Friday, the Office of International Relations (SINTER) will hold a welcome session for international students who will be joining UFSC in the second semester of 2019. The event will take place at the Rectorate Building Auditorium, at 10 a.m., and will have the participation of the University’s Vice-Rector, Prorectors, the Secretary for International Relations, other secretaries and external guests.

UFSC student is selected for Fundación Botín’s exchange program

The student Gabriela Ferreira da Silva, from the International Relations program, was approved to participate in the 10th edition of the Programme for the Strengthening of Civil Service in Latin America, an exchange program administered by the Spanish organization Fundación Botín that aims to promote vocation and talent for the civil service. Thirty-two undergraduate students are selected every year. Gabriela was selected among 6,315 contestants from 20 different countries of Latin America.

Applications open for USAC Study Buddy Program – Summer Session II

Applications are open for the USAC Study Buddy Program. USAC – University Studies Abroad Consortium – is a non-profit, university-based organization that has as one of its purposes to offer English learning opportunities for UFSC’s academic community. The Study Buddy Program is an initiative for UFSC students to get to know students from other countries and cultures and improve their English through practice.

At first, USAC will promote a few integration events, and, later, the UFSC student will keep in touch with his/her study buddy. If you are a student interested in participating in the program for the Summer Session II (July – August 2019), keep in mind that you will need to:
