Pilot Program Launch – Participation of International Students in Outreach Projects

13:55:39

The Office of International Relations (SINTER) held last Monday, on 6 March, during the Welcome Session for International Students, the launch of the program aimed at the students in international mobility taking part in outreach projects, given the recognition of the outreach potential to strengthen the social dimension of internationalization, as well as the contribution that international students can offer to UFSC outreach projects, based on their experiences.

The program aims to bring international students who enter UFSC through bilateral agreements or international programs – such as Escala Grado and Posgrado programs of the Association of Montevideo Group Universities (AUGM) and Erasmus+ – closer to the wide and diverse range of outreach projects that are being carried out at the University. The initiative is the result of a partnership between SINTER and the Prorectorate for Outreach and Extension (PROEX), which conducted, between December 2022 and February 2023, a consultation to the university outreach community about the interest in offering places for the voluntary participation of international students in outreach projects, through the  Internal Call no. 1/2022/SINTER-PROEX.

The consultation received expressions of interest from 51 projects in various areas of knowledge. The project coordinators provide a summary of the project’s objectives, the activities to be developed by the students and the weekly workload, as well as the desired profiles, when applicable, such as degree program or specific knowledge. The information available about the projects that have signed up for the initiative can be found in the Catalogue of Outreach Projects available to International Students.

To apply, students must contact the project coordinators to inform their interest through the email addresses available in the catalogue.  The participation in the project will guarantee the issuing of a participation certificate with the hours dedicated to the activity.
