Today, 9 March, the results of another international ranking were announced ‒ the Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies University Rankings 2021.
The rankings analyzed the data provided for the THE World University Rankings, using the same performance indicators, but with different weightings to reflect the reality of universities in emerging economy countries.
For these rankings, the THE only includes institutions in countries classified by the London Stock Exchange’s FTSE Group as ‘advanced emerging’, ‘secondary emerging’ or ‘frontier’.
The performance indicators are grouped into five areas: Teaching; Research; Citations; International Outlook; and Industry Income.
This year, 52 Brazilian Universities were ranked, and 6 institutions were included for the first time.
The Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) was ranked 158th in the overall ranking.
