UFSC ‒ Universidad del Valle (Physical Therapy) Virtual Mobility Program ‒ Applications open until 23 August 2020

The Office of International Relations (SINTER) announces that the Universidad del Valle (Univalle), a partner institution of UFSC in Colombia, is offering virtual mobility opportunities through remote learning for undergraduate students of the Physical Therapy Program. The participation will be free for UFSC students.

Universidad del Valle will offer to UFSC students the opportunity to take up to 2 courses among the 7 courses offered online. Access the Course Catalogue and learn the prerequisites for each course.

Classes will be held from 19 August 2020 to 23 December 2020.

When applying, each student should indicate up to 2 preferred courses. The coordinator of the Physical Therapy program, together with the coordinator of the agreement between UFSC and Univalle, Professor Livia Arcêncio do Amaral, will analyze the applications and authorize the remote learning activity.

UFSC students will be able to transfer the credits earned at Univalle as elective courses or complementary activities.

  1. The requirements at Universidad del Valle are:
  • be an undergraduate student of Physical Therapy.
  • be able to attend classes in Spanish.
  1. The requirements at UFSC are:
  • be regularly enrolled at UFSC from the time of application until the end of the virtual mobility.
  • have completed 30% of the total hours of their program at the moment of application.
  • meet the prerequisites described in the course catalogue.
  1. The documents required for application are:
  • Motivation letter, written in Spanish, including the indication of the 2 preferred courses;
  • Updated Academic Transcript, issued by CAGR;
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Scanned copy of a face photograph (colored, with white background);
  • Scanned copy of the passport photo page or of a photo ID document (front and back).
  1. Applications at UFSC:

4.1 The applicant must send scanned copies of all the documents listed in item 3, saved in a single file in Portable Document Format (.pdf) to the e-mail programas.sinter@contato.ufsc.br until 23 August 2020. The e-mail should be sent as a copy (cc) to fisioterapia@contato.ufsc.br.

4.2 The student must write in the body of the e-mail the name of the courses they wish to take online at UNIVALLE.

4.3 The application e-mail must have as subject UNIVALLE + APPLICANT’S FIRST NAME + LAST NAME (for example: UNIVALLE ANA SILVA). Applications that do not follow such format, are not sent as a copy to fisioterapia@contato.ufsc.br or present incomplete documentation will not be considered.

  1. Results:

SINTER will send to UNIVALLE the names of the approved students. The students will be contacted via e-mail about the enrollment procedures and the beginning of the activities at the institution.

The Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, through its Office for International Relations, informs that:

– It does not have any cooperation or work agreements with national or international study abroad agencies and recruiters;

– The cooperation agreements between UFSC and the international institutions are signed after several negotiations between both parties, and the conditions for any joint activity are provided for in the general agreement or its addenda;

– No cooperation agreement or activity is linked to a private agency. They are made directly between UFSC and the international institution;

– All students regularly enrolled at UFSC wishing to apply for an academic exchange must go through specific application and/or selection procedures and meet pre-established requirements. The existence of a cooperation agreement does not guarantee the exchange.

– All information on our website is public. However, we do not take responsibility for its incorrect use or its employment for interests other than institutional ones.

University Council decides that remote learning will start on 31 August

On 21 July, the University Council (CUn) of Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) approved the Exceptional Supplementary Calendar, which will be in force at UFSC as the university transitions to remote learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The CUn has decided that there will be a period of five weeks of preparation for the resumption of the academic semester, which is scheduled to restart from 31 August. The semester will last 16 weeks and is expected to end between 14 December-19 December.

UFSC is ranked 9th best university in the Times Higher Education (THE) Latin America University Rankings

The Times Higher Education (THE) has published the Latin America University Rankings 2020, a list of the best universities in the Latin America and Caribbean Region.

In this year’s edition, the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) moved from the 12th to the 9th position in the ranking. Among the 10 top universities in Latin America, UFSC was ranked the 3rd best Brazilian federal university, behind the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG) and the Universidade Federal de São Paulo (Unifesp).

UFSC is ranked 15th among Brazilian Universities in Sustainable Development Ranking

The Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) was ranked 15th overall among the 30 Brazilian Universities which participated in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2020. The Impact Rankings assess universities against the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations 2030 Agenda. This was the first time that UFSC participated in the ranking, and it was ranked 301-400th worldwide.
