UFSC welcomes international students on campus

The Office of International Relations (SINTER) will hold, on 6 March, a welcome session for international students arriving at UFSC in the first semester of 2023. The event will take place at the Rectorate Building Auditorium, on the Trindade (Florianópolis) Campus, starting at 10 am.

In addition to the welcoming speeches, the session will include important information about UFSC and cultural presentations.

This event is organized at the beginning of each semester by the Office for International Relations (SINTER) to welcome and integrate international students into the academic and social life at UFSC. It is aimed at the entire international student community, that is, undergraduate and graduate degree-seeking students and exchange students, including participants from specific programs coordinated by SINTER, such as Escala Estudiantes de Grado and Escala Estudiantes de Posgrado of the Asociación de Universities Grupo Montevideo [Association of Montevideo Group Universities] (AUGM) and the Programa de Estudantes-Convênio de Graduação (PEC-G).

This semester, UFSC will welcome 74 exchange students from 17 countries. We will also receive five PEC-G (undergraduate) students, coming from Chile, Paraguay and Guinea Bissau, in addition to students entering Graduate Programs.

Registration open for the Portuguese as a Foreign Language Course – A1 [Level 1]

Registration is open for the Introduction to Brazilian Portuguese – A1 [Level 1] course, to take place between 15 February and 25 February. This course is offered to students, researchers, foreign professors and external community members who need an introduction to the Portuguese language.

The aim is to enable participants to master the structures, expressions and sentences of everyday use, allowing them to communicate in a simple way, introduce themselves and others, ask questions and give answers about personal aspects and their surroundings. The course will also present elements of the Brazilian culture through relevant texts and famous MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) songs.

This 20-hour, self-instructional course will be held online through the virtual teaching and learning environment Moodle. To progress in the course, students need to view all contents and complete the activities proposed at the end of each module. For approval in the course, they must obtain a final grade equal to or higher than six (6.0).

At the end of the course, participants who complete all required activities and obtain the minimum grade required will receive an electronic certificate issued by UFSC and valid throughout the country.
