The Graduate Programs in International Relations (PPGRI/UFSC) and in Political Sociology (PPGSP/UFSC), with the support of the Office of International Relations (SINTER) and the Prorectorate for Outreach and Extension (PROEX), promote and invite the academic community to participate in the “The New Silk Road: Brazilian and Chinese Perspectives” event to be held on 27 and 28 June in the auditorium of the School of Socio-Economic Sciences (CSE).
The schedule includes lectures, round tables and presentations by students and faculty, aiming to exchange knowledge about Brazil-China relations. The theme, Silk Road, has been intensely publicized in the international press and is a hot topic to be discussed in the academic circles.
The event will have the participation of Professor Miao Ji from the Institute of Asian Studies, Trilateral Cooperation Studies Center, China Foreign Affairs University, as well as of Brazilian specialists on Sino-Brazilian relations.

Applications for the 2019.2 MRE Merit Scholarship are open from 18 June 2019 to 14 July 2019. The scholarship is destined for students of the PEC-G Programs at UFSC who have completed at least 2 semesters of study.
Offered by the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the Merit Scholarship consists of a monthly financial assistance of R$ 622.00 for six months.

Registrations are open for USAC short courses taught in English during the academic break (July 2019), with the aim of providing English learning opportunities for undergraduate students at UFSC. These courses are also attended by international exchange students.

On 6 June 2019, UFSC welcomed the visit of Sarah O’Sullivan, a representative of Education in Ireland (Brazil). Ms. O’Sullivan gave a lecture to UFSC students on exchange opportunities in Ireland, covering topics such as application processes, advantages of the Irish higher education system, scholarship opportunities and visa application procedures. The event was held in the Harry Laus Room at the Central Library, located on the Florianópolis Campus.

Applications for the XXVI Jornadas de Jovens Pesquisadores of the Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevideo (AUGM) are now open. The event will take place from 23 to 25 October 2019 at the Universidade Federal de São Carlos (UFSCAR) in São Carlos (SP), Brazil. The theme chosen for the 2019 edition is “A Ciência e a Tecnologia na Produção de Inovação e Transformação Social” [Science and Technology in the Production of Innovation and Social Transformation].

Ms. Susan Loubet, Director of International Relations of the École d’Ingénieurs du Monde Numerique, will give a lecture to UFSC computer science students on exchange opportunities in the French partner institution.
The lecture will take place on 12 June, at 11 a.m., in the auditorium of the Department of Informatics and Statistics (INE).
During her visit at UFSC, Ms. Loubet will also meet with the Secretary of International Relations, Prof. Lincoln Fernandes, and with INE faculty members.
SINTER announces that applications for the Santander Universidades Ibero-American Undergraduate Scholarship Program are open, according to the Call for Applications no. 12 SINTER 2019. The program, financed by Banco Santander (Brasil) S.A., offers scholarships to students enrolled at Santander’s partner universities, enabling academic mobility between Ibero-American countries.
