UFSC hosts the Study in Europe Road Show 2022

The Study in Europe Road Show 2022 brings together representatives of study abroad funding agencies in France (Campus France), Germany (DAAD), Switzerland (Swissnex) and Belgium (WBI) to present scholarship and funding opportunities in Europe for undergraduate and graduate students.

A series of informative lectures and talks with the agencies will be held on 29 April at UFSC, and the representatives will also be available to meet the public. The event is an opportunity to clear doubts and learn about scholarship programs in Europe. The location and full schedule will be announced soon.

Exchange scholarship for undergraduate students at Pädagogische Hochschule Weingarten (Germany)

The Office of International Relations (SINTER) informs that applications are open for scholarships at the Pädagogische Hochschule Weingarten (Germany) for undergraduate students wishing to go on exchange from April 2023.

Applications must be sent between 28 March and 7 April 2022.

SINTER takes part in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevideo – AUGM

Representatives of the member universities at the Reunión del Grupo de Delegados Asesores of AUGM

The Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevideo [Association of Montevideo Group Universities] (AUGM) celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, marking three decades as a network of public, autonomous and self-governing universities in the region.

The celebration was attended by representatives of the member universities, who participated of an agenda of activities that took place on 8, 9, 10 and 11 March 2022.

The Group of Advisory Delegates from AUGM had its first post-pandemic in-person meeting. The Reunión del Grupo de Delegados Asesores took place on 8 and 9 March at the Universidad de La República in Montevideo, Uruguay, as part of the commemorative activities for the 30th anniversary of the Association.

The Secretary for International Relations at UFSC, Lincoln Fernandes, attended the session of Advisory Delegates, which had, among the subjects, the definition of places for academic mobility of students (undergraduate and graduate), faculty and staff.

Portuguese as a Foreign Language (PFL) Course: aspects of academic writing in Brazilian Portuguese

SINTERThe Institutional Center for Languages ​​and Translation (NILT/SINTER) launched the Portuguese as a foreign language course “Aspects of academic writing in Brazilian Portuguese: abstract, review and scientific article”.  Registrations are open from 15 to 31 March 2022 and classes will take place from 18 April to 7 May.

The course is being offered to foreign or Brazilians students, researchers and professors who may need an introduction to academic written production in Brazilian Portuguese. The aim is to enable the participants to produce quality academic papers in Brazilian Portuguese, providing them with formal, linguistic and argumentative elements necessary for the writing process.

Course content:

  • Academic genres: abstract, review, article.
  • General characteristics of academic writing: conciseness, clarity, objectivity, impersonality.
  • Strategies to maintain impersonality in academic writing.
  • Textual cohesion and coherence: connectors, modals and anaphoric reference.
  • Academic article and its structure: form and content aspects.

NILT launches the course “Atelier: Rédiger une lettre de motivation”

SINTERThe Institutional Center for Languages ​​and Translation (NILT/SINTER) promotes the French course “Atelier: Rédiger une lettre de motivation”. Registrations open on 14 March and classes will take place between 28 March and 20 April.

In this course, the students will have an introduction to intercultural issues involving the preparation of a lettre de motivation (motivation letter) in French; develop comprehension skills to recognize the structure of application letters for internships, courses, among others; and produce a lettre de motivation based on specific linguistic and lexical content that the genre demands in the academic context.

The course requires A2 proficiency level and totals 16 hours. The synchronous classes will take place on 28/03, 30/03, 04/04, 06/04, 11/04, 13/04, 18/04 and 20/04, from 10 am to 11:30 am.

Applications open for the “Italian proficiency tests” course

The Institutional Center for Languages and Translation (NILT/SINTER) promotes the “Italian Proficiency Tests” course, aiming to present the proficiency tests offered by Italian universities in Brazil (CELI, CILS, PLIDA). Registrations are open until 27 March 2022.

In this course, students will understand what these tests are for, how they are carried out and evaluated, and what skills they must have to choose the most appropriate level for their linguistic knowledge. Participants will not learn the language itself, but will become familiar with the functioning of the tests, including their duration, how the questions are presented, which skills are assessed, where the tests are administered and how much they cost. Basic knowledge of Italian is advisable to carry out the course activities, but it is not mandatory.

The course is structured into four study modules, organized in such a way that it presents all the relevant information about each of the proficiency tests. The first module will introduce the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and its relevance to proficiency tests in any language. Then, the most frequently asked questions involving the Italian tests will be answered. In the second, third and fourth modules, the CILS, CELI and PLIDA tests, respectively, will be presented, including their individual characteristics, the test formats, their duration, and the calendar for the current year.

The course totals 20 hours and is composed of synchronous classes and asynchronous readings and activities. To complete the course, it is necessary to carry out the activities proposed at the end of each module (40%) and participate in the synchronous classes (60%). The course will open on Moodle on 29 March. The synchronous classes will take place on 5 April (Modules 1 and 2) and 12 April (Modules 3 and 4), Tuesdays, from 10 am to 11:30 am, via the Zoom platform. The link will be available on Moodle and will also be sent to the students one day before the first synchronous class. Classes will be taught by the instructors Cleide Giacomelli Borraz and Telmo Clos Ambrosini, with the supervision of professor Daniela Bunn (MEN/CED/UFSC).

Erasmus+ Sapienza Università di Roma – Applications open for the pre-selection of undergraduate students

Applications are open for the Erasmus + UFSC – Sapienza Undergraduate Mobility Program, according to the Call no. 4 SINTER 2022.

The objective of this Call is to pre-select UFSC undergraduate students for the Sapienza Università di Roma’s selection. There are no places reserved for UFSC students in the selection process and the final decision will be made exclusively by Sapienza Università di Roma. There is 1 (one) place available in this pre-selection for all participating Brazilian HEIs. SINTER will pre-select 2 (two) students, preferably students with the socioeconomic registration approved by the Prorectorate for Student Affairs (PRAE), according to item 6.7 of the Call.

The candidates must send a scanned copy of all the documentation listed in item 6 of this Call, in Portable Document Format (.pdf), to the e-mail  address programas.sinter@contato.ufsc.br between 3 March and 3 April  2022.
