SINTER holds the event “International Community Welcome Day” to promote integration and internationalization

The Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) is getting ready to welcome the international community for the second semester of 2023 with a special welcome event. Promoted by the Office of International Relations (SINTER), the event International Community Welcome Day will take place on 4 August 2023, at 10 a.m., in the Rectorate Building Auditorium.

The event, traditionally held at the beginning of each semester, which aims at welcoming and integrating new international students into the academic and social life of the University, will take on a new format this second semester. In addition to the international students of the Incoming, PEC-G and Escala Grado and Escala Posgrado programs, which are directly managed by SINTER, the event will seek to be more comprehensive and include the entire international community of UFSC. To do so, SINTER has joined forces with the Prorectorate for Undergraduate Studies and Basic Education (PROGRAD) and the Prorectorate for Graduate Studies (PROPG).

UFSC hosts Chinese delegation from the Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS)

As part of the international cooperation agreement negotiated with Zhejiang University International Business School (ZIBS), from China, the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) hosted this Thursday, 22 June, a delegation from the institution on the Florianópolis Campus. The agreement foresees international mobility among students from both institutions and research cooperation. The visit was organized by the Office of International Relations (SINTER) and the Prorectorate for Research and Innovation (PROPESQ), with the support of the Rector’s Office (GR) and the Institute for Studies on China at UFSC (ICHIN).

The delegation from the Chinese university comprised Professor Ben Shenglin, Dean of ZIBS; his wife, Deng Yuhua; the CEO of the company LianLian, Zhu Xiaosong; and the Executive Director and the Partnerships Coordinator of the ZIBS Latin American Center, Rodrigo Moura and Mariana Rodrigues.

They were welcomed at UFSC by the Rector, Irineu Manoel de Souza; the Director of the Rector’s Office, João Luiz Martins; the Head of the Director’s Office, Bernardo Meyer; the Prorector for Research and Innovation, Jacques Mick; the Prorector for Graduate Studies, Werner Kraus Junior; the Prorector for Undergraduate Studies, Dilceane Carraro; the Director of International Relations, Fernanda Leal; the International Agreements Coordinator, Amanda Drehmer; SINTER’s communication assistant, Caroline Finati; Sinter’s translator and interpreter, Paula Michels; and the Institute for Studies on China (ICHIN) Coordinator, Raúl Burgos, accompanied by professors Daniel Martins and Fernando Spanhol and doctoral student Yasmin Lenz.

The group was welcomed by the Rector, who greeted the participants and gave a brief speech in which he presented data about UFSC, qualifying it as a very important university for society, recognized for its quality in the areas of teaching, research, and outreach. The Rector defined the agreement as a very important milestone for UFSC’s internationalization process, bringing opportunities in the area of research and exchanges.

UFSC is ranked 6th best university in Latin America University Rankings 2022

THE, Latin America University Rankings 2021 Revista NUVEThe Times Higher Education (THE) has just published the Latin America University Rankings, listing the best universities in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

In this 2022 edition, the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) is ranked 6th.

Among the best universities in Latin America, UFSC is the second-best Brazilian federal institution, standing out in the knowledge transfer, research and teaching performance indicators.

The Times Higher Education (THE) is a British magazine that publishes news and articles related to higher education, affiliated to The Times newspaper.

Universities are evaluated based on 13 performance indicators, including teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook.

New DELF Preparation course

Registration for the course “Préparation pour le DELF B1” is now open.

The course will be taught entirely in French and starts next 12 August, with synchronous classes on Thursdays and asynchronous sessions, totaling 16h.

This course is an initiative of the Institutional Center for Languages and Translation (NILT), linked to SINTER, to promote institutional internationalization through multilingual training.

The Times Higher Education (THE) has just published the Latin America University Rankingslisting the best universities in Latin America and the Caribbean region.

In this 2021 edition, the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC) is ranked 11th.

Among the best universities in Latin America, UFSC is the fifth-best Brazilian federal institution, standing out in teaching, research, and citation indicators.

The Times Higher Education (THE) is a British journal that publishes news and articles on higher education, affiliated to The Times newspaper, which annually prepares a set of rankings considered one of the most comprehensive, balanced, and reliable in the world. To assess universities, thirteen indicators are analysed to measure their performance, such as teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international perspective.

The Times Higher Education Latin America University Rankings 2021 includes 177 universities in 13 countries.
